Adventure and Recreation

About Us

As a leader in development and project management for the leisure and entertainment industry, Select Contracts succeeds with its turnkey process: Design -> Build -> Operate

Our clients are from all over the world with projects that span across all types of leisure, adventure and recreation. Our turnkey process allows us to be vertically integrated throughout the entirety of our projects. This means we take projects from concept through to completion, and furthermore into ongoing operation.

We are really proud of our turnkey solution to development; it has worked well since our inception in 1978. Our specialty in development includes but is not limited to:

Adventure Parks | Surf Parks | Bike Parks | Snow/Ski Facilities | Water Parks | Family Entertainment Centres | Theme Parks

Our head office is located in Whistler, BC, Canada and we have a second office in Christchurch, New Zealand.

As a company, we are incredibly focused on delivering our business minded services to create strong and exciting leisure, adventure and recreation projects. Regardless of the scope of work or the extent of our involvement in the development, our goal is the ultimate implementation and successful operation of each and every project we are involved with.

Project definition is the critical first stage of a new project. During this stage our team works out the business model, feasibility of the idea, develops components, creates conceptual design and identifies funding requirements. Once a project is defined, we conduct all detailed design work in-house ready to go to site. Our development team then manages the construction of the projects whilst our operations team monitor the project all the way through to ensure it will be operationally efficient and gear it up for opening with pre-opening management, website and business development and operations management.

We are able to develop individual phases of a project if the entire process is not required. We quite often find ourselves consulting for projects by providing advice on how to structure businesses, explaining what components to include, helping put financial models together, evaluating operations to help improve the bottom line and providing recommendations for future expansions.

We ensure that all of our departments input their expert knowledge into each phase of a project to ensure a smooth and successful integration between all of the development phases.

Three Market Research Tips to Get You From Zero to Hero

You have probably, at least once in your life (we hope), visited a really great attraction- maybe it was a world-class ski resort, or an adrenaline-filled adventure park, or even Disneyland. What made that attraction so fantastic? Was it the service? The activities? Was everything ‘just so’ that made your visit?

Any well-executed attraction started with an idea and that idea had to be backed up with proof before being brought to reality. This is where market research comes in. Now, don’t get too excited – we know the term doesn’t exactly get your skin tingling, but there is a lot to be said about a solid research process. If you …

A Day Out with the Select Contracts Team

June 6, 2017 – Summer is upon us here in Whistler, but not without a very late ‘good-bye’ from a rather lengthy winter! A long winter meant the Select Contracts team got out for one last sled trip this past month just before the snow line disappeared into the alpine where we spent some quality time in the Pemberton backcountry.

Working in the leisure and entertainment industry, we believe that the ‘life’ part of work-life balance shouldn’t be reserved for those two vacation weeks a year. When we work, we work hard- but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t play hard too! Not every day is a roller coaster …

I first worked with Select Contracts over 20 years ago in Japan and have enjoyed over 2 decades of professionalism and service from the Select team on 3 continents and numerous projects.
