About the Park

Select Contracts is proud to present the Porirua Adventure Park in the majestic hills of Te Rāhui o Rangituhi. The park’s gondola will feature a scenic ride to 290 metres above sea level along a 1.2km long lift line. The gondola will be a spectacular sightseeing experience offering sweeping views of Porirua and surrounding hills on the ride up. Once at the top, many adventures and experiences await! The place to be and ‘wow’ visitors will be at the top station restaurant overlooking the city of Porirua and hills beyond. Visitor access will be greatly improved to new and existing mountain bike trails for all levels of riding ability. New sightseeing trails can be discovered for walking and hiking, from easy and accessible grades to a challenging base-to-peak bucket-list hike. Last but not least, the bravest visitors will get to experience a record-breaking 1,410m long dual zipline, the longest in the Southern Hemisphere! At the base, visitors will find the adventure park’s village nestled in beautiful Spicer Park hosting a clubhouse café where you can grab a bite and spectate, or partake, in New Zealand’s first indoor standing surf wave!

Resource consent: Have your say!

We are currently in the resource consent phase, meaning that our application has been lodged with Porirua City Council, the Greater Wellington Regional Council and the Department of Conservation, requesting the necessary permissions to proceed with this development.  This is a publicly notified consent process and we would appreciate your support for this amazing asset to the community and wider Wellington region.

There are two parts to the application and each will give the public an opportunity to have their say:

  1. Resource Consent application to Porirua City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council: The majority of the Porirua Adventure Park, approximately 90% of the proposal, is on land managed by Porirua City Council and is not on public conservation land.  Permission to build, maintain and operate the various aspects of the Adventure Park on this land is sought.
  2. Concession application to Department of Conservation: This concession application is for the lease of a small amount of conservation land immediately adjacent to the Porirua City Council land.

The Porirua City Council (PCC) is inviting submissions on the resource consent application on or before 5pm, Wednesday 31 October.  Details about our application are on the PCC website and the form you can use for your submission to the PCC is here.  The PCC asks that submissions are sent to both them (Chief Executive, Porirua City Council, PO Box 50218, Porirua 5240; or email submissions@poriruacity.govt.nz) and to us as the applicant (Porirua Adventure Park Limited Partnership, C/O Egmont Dixon Limited, Level 12, 50 Manners Mall, Wellington 6011, Attn: Stephanie Blick; or email sblick@egmontdixon.com)

The Department of Conservation (DOC) is also now inviting submissions on our concession application.  Details about the application and how to put in a submission are on the DOC website and a summary of what our DOC concession application entails is here. Submissions close on Friday 19 October at 5pm.

These are two separate processes, so it is necessary to send a separate submission to each agency: Porirua City Council for the resource consent, and the Department of Conservation for the concession.  We thank you again for your ongoing support to help us bring this amazing facility to the Wellington Region.
